Alexander Volkanovski's Retirement Plans: Future Fights and Title Aspirations in MMA

Alexander Volkanovski has recently shared insights into his retirement plans as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Diego Lopes at UFC 314 on April 12, 2025

In an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, he indicated that he is contemplating a few more fights before officially retiring from mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.

Volkanovski, who has faced significant challenges in recent matches, including knockout losses to Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria, acknowledged that thoughts of retirement had crossed his mind during his time off

However, he has gained clarity regarding his future in the sport and is eager to reclaim the featherweight title, which he lost to Topuria earlier this year.

He expressed a desire to "have one last crack" at winning the belt and potentially defending it a few times before stepping away from the sport entirely.

He stated, "I’m expecting to maybe have a couple more, a few more... But how much longer do I want to do this to myself and my body?" This reflects his ongoing passion for fighting while also recognizing the physical toll it takes on him

Volkanovski is focused on making the most of his remaining time in the sport, aiming for a quick turnaround after UFC 314 to face Movsar Evloev for a title shot shortly thereafter.

In summary, Volkanovski plans to compete in a few more matches, with aspirations of winning back the featherweight title and securing additional defenses before considering retirement.

His commitment to the sport remains strong, but he is also looking forward to life beyond fighting.
