Michelle McCool’s Pro Wrestling Career: Celebrating Her Induction into the WWE Hall of Fame

Michelle McCool, one of the leading names in women’s professional wrestling, has been announced as a class of 2025 inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Taylor Hatching Down the Path McCool began her journey in professional wrestling after participating in the Diva Search competition in 2004.

Following her selection, she got a WWE contract and made her debut on SmackDown in 2006. Her first appearance was mainly backstage, but soon after, she became a full-time competitor, showing off her talents and desire to become a star.

Title Wins McCool became the very first Divas Champion; 2008 was the year she first set records. This was a major step for her career and also paved the way for more in-store success.

In 2009, she unified Divas Championship with WWE Women's Championship; that is, she became the first woman in the history of WWE to hold both titles at a single time.

LayCool Together McCool was hugely responsible behind the formation of what is known in wrestling as the most popular tag team of LayCool, with fellow wrestler Layla. The team dominated the women's division from 2009 until their breakup in 2011.

McCool retired from wrestling due to injuries and personal issues after having spent most of 2011 away from full-time competition. She made several surprise appearances in the years to follow, most notably competing in several Royal Rumble Matches in 2018, 2022, and 2023.

The induction of McCool into the Hall of Fame does not only count as an honor on her behalf but serves as an important appreciation for stopping defects for the next generation of female wrestlers.
