Puja Tomar, an Indian mixed martial artist, has been making strides in the world of MMA, particularly with her recent participation in the UFC.

Puja Tomar’s UFC Contract Status After UFC London Loss

Puja Tomar, made history by becoming the first Indian to win a fight in the UFC, which was a significant milestone for both her career and Indian representation in mixed martial arts.

At UFC London, Puja Tomar faced off against Shauna Bannon. This bout was critical for both fighters as they sought to establish themselves within the promotion.

Unfortunately for Tomar, she suffered a defeat via armbar submission after being knocked down by a head kick early in the fight. This loss marked a setback in her career, especially considering that it was her second fight in the UFC following a previous victory.

Tomar’s performance showcased her resilience and fighting spirit; however, it also highlighted areas where she needs improvement. The loss came at a time when she was looking to build momentum after her debut victory against Rayanne dos Santos.

Following her loss at UFC London, questions arose regarding Puja Tomar’s contract status with the UFC. As is common in professional sports, particularly in combat sports like MMA, performance can significantly impact a fighter’s standing with their promotion.

The UFC typically evaluates fighters based on their overall performance and marketability. With Tomar being one of the few Indian fighters in the organization and having already made history as its first female winner from India, there may still be interest from the promotion to keep her on board despite this recent loss.

In light of this situation, Puja Tomar’s focus will likely shift towards recovery and training as she aims to improve upon her previous performances. Fighters often take losses as learning experiences and use them to refine their skills and strategies for future bouts.

Additionally, if she does enter free agency after this bout, it could open up new opportunities for her elsewhere within different promotions that might be interested in signing an athlete with her unique background and potential.
