Vince McMahon
Featuring Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon is in the news again. WWE personality Jonathan Coachman had a meltdown on his podcast “Coach & Bro.” on May 28, 2025. He broke the news that Vince Mcmahon is “very interested” in purchasing WWE again. And with these simple words, a storm of responses was brewing within the wrestling world.

Coachman is no ordinary man. He is a WWE veteran so long now. So if someone like him out of nowhere appears and comes out of retirement with a message like this, the fans will listen. But hype or no hype, does something else happen behind the scenes?

What Did Coachman Actually Reveal?

Coachman reports that Vince McMahon would love to buy WWE again. But then proceeded to announce he’s not “100% sure” it would. Which is to say that even he isn’t clear what is going on. To put things into perspective, travel back in time. McMahon had walked out of WWE in the middle of a series of controversies. WWE and UFC merged to form TKO Group Holdings. It’s listed on the stock exchange now and is no longer Vince’s.

Why Buying WWE Back Is Not So Easy

Most of the fans would love to hear the rumor. Nevertheless, when you look at facts, a buyback is practically impossible for several reasons.

1. WWE’s Current Value Is Too High The worth of WWE has grown so much since it merged with TKO. It will cost billions of dollars to buy it today. And the fact is, Vince McMahon may not have that sort of money anymore. He sold a lot of his shares. His own wealth is not enough to fund such a huge transaction.

2. McMahon Doesn’t Have The Same Power They have ginormous pieces of TKO in the possession of companies such as Vanguard Group, Silver Lake, and Endeavor. McMahon still owns some but no longer has controlling interest over the act. His voting share was diluted by the merger. He cannot just crash and pilfer it.

3. Experts Say It’s Just Talk Responsible wrestling news such as Fightful Select and Wrestlenomics have called the rumor of a buyback a hoax. They even called it a “rumor killer.” They maintain that there is no credible evidence that a buyback is in progress.

Why Would He Even Want WWE Back?

Assume for a while that the rumor is true. Why would Vince McMahon even want WWE back? It could be about control. Maybe he misses making the big decisions. Maybe he wants to be part of WWE’s creative team again. Or maybe it’s about legacy.

WWE has been his life’s work, and watching it grow without him could be tough. Still, none of that changes the fact that the chances of a buyback happening are extremely low.

What People Are Saying Online

Internet enthusiasts are split into two. There are those who believe the rumor is valid since they think that Vince always manages to find his way back. Others wish WWE would just move on from him and not be hearing his name. There are even jokes in the air.

Some say he comes back as a different character in order to once again rule supreme. But amidst all the joking, everybody knows the truth: Vince McMahon’s desire to come back is different from him actually coming back.

Final Thoughts

Vince McMahon purchasing WWE again is fantasy vs. reality. Money, ownership, and corporate power make it near impossible. Even if he wants it, he no longer possesses the power he once did. The WWE he created is different now, and he might not even be able to operate it anymore.

All of this is speculation until something drops from heaven officially. McMahon might want it, but that is not going to fly. Not in the WWE of today.
