In a recent interview with BT and Sal on WFAN, Triple H, the CCO of WWE, discussed the groundbreaking decision to expand SummerSlam into a two-night event. It is scheduled for August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium. This marks a significant shift for the Biggest Party of the Summer, mirroring the two-night format for WrestleMania. While the move has sparked varied reactions among fans, Triple H passionately defended the decision. He emphasized its potential to transform SummerSlam into a must-attend weekend for wrestling enthusiasts.

He explained that the two-night structure has proven successful for WrestleMania. “Look, it has been successful for us on the WrestleMania side for sure. The two-night WrestleMania is a destination weekend for people who can come in, you know, I think people plan their year and vacation around it,” Triple H stated. He highlighted how fans immerse themselves in a packed schedule, starting with events like WWE World on Thursday, where they can view memorabilia and meet stars. That follows the go-home show of SmackDown on Friday, the main events on Saturday and Sunday, and sometimes NXT earlier on Saturday.

The weekend concludes with a Monday night show at Barclays Center. Triple H emphasized the all-encompassing nature of the event, describing it as a pilgrimage for wrestling fans. “If you are a WWE fan, if you’re a sports entertainment fan, it’s the ultimate,” he said. He noted that the New York/New Jersey area becomes a hub for WWE activities during the event, offering fans an unparalleled experience.

SummerSlam 2025 match card

The two nights of SummerSlam will have an equal number of matches: 6 each night. Most of the current championships will be defended on the show. However, three non-title matches will also take place, considering their stakes. First being the rubber match between Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross. Then the tag team match with Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. The next tag team match has stakes though. A small part of Bloodline reuniting with Roman Reigns teaming up with Jey Uso to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

The other matches on Night 1 are all title matches. Starting with The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez defending their Women’s Tag Team Championship against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Next up is the WWE Women’s Championship match between Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill. However, to end the night, CM Punk will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

On Night 2, the Six-Way TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championship happens. The entire SmackDown tag team roster will battle for it. The next match will be the triple threat for the Women’s World Championship between Rhea Ripley, Naomi, and Iyo Sky. The next women’s match will have the Women’s Intercontinental Championship being defended by Becky Lynch against Lyra Valkyria. It is to be noted that the bout is No DQ and no countouts.

The Men’s Intercontinental Championship will see “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu will battle inside the Steel Cage for the US Title. However, to end the night in a street fight, John Cena will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes.
