John Cena is on his way to retirement next month. With his final professional wrestling match scheduled for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., he is wrapping up his RAWs, too. Cena recently came on X to express his thoughts about his penultimate RAW appearance, calling it a special moment on his Farewell Tour. That appearance is set tonight on Monday Night RAW in Boston, his hometown.
He posted on X yesterday that, “Tomorrow night @tdgarden will be a very special stop on the Farewell Tour. Looking forward to an incredible night in Boston with my @WWE family! Tomorrow night LIVE on @netflix!”. This marks his last time in Boston, even maybe wrestling there if he gets a surprise opponent then and there. However it is certain the the night will be the first effort in choosing his last opponent.
The first round matches for the Last Time is Now tournament will begin tonight. Sheamus is up against Shinsuke Nakamura while Rusev battles Damian Priest. And this same week on SmackDown, Jey Uso vs. The Miz and LA Knight vs. a mystery opponent are scheduled. The winner of this whole tournament will go on to face The Leader of Cenation in his last match.
Cena’s last competitive match took place last month at the Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia. John earned his 100th Premium Live Event win following a match filled with tributes to both competitors’ careers. The “Last Real Champion” is now focused on his final four appearances leading up to his D.C. retirement.
John Cena’s match catalogue ever since he turned back to babyface
John Cena went on a ride this year by embracing the dark side. The Cenation Leader turned heel on March 1st, 2025, at Elimination Chamber in Toronto. Ever since then, he has won the Undisputed WWE Championship, becoming the record 17-time champion. He faced ghosts from his past like Randy Orton and CM Punk. However one fine SmackDown, he decided to drop that shtick and love back the crowd.
His first match back as the babyface was actually a rematch against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. It did see his defeat but ended up being, arguably, his best match of 2025. Then on a SmackDown, he teamed up with Cody Rhodes to face the ultimate heel duo of Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. Next up, he faced The Maverick itself, in a classic bout at at Clash in Paris.
The next SmackDown, he faced Sami Zayn in a United States Championship open challenge. That match was interrupted by Brock Lesnar, who was scheduled to be his next opponent at Wrestlepalooza. That match eventually happened, leaving fans with a sour taste in their mouths. However, regarded as Cena’s best match of his farewell tour, his next match with AJ Styles at Crown Jewel.
