Alex Pereira in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani gave his reaction to Jiri Prochazka watching him at UFC 311 backstage interview. As per the Brazilian fighter’s response, it was a normal thing from the Czech light heavyweight fighter.

The former LHW champion defeated Jamahal Hill at UFC 311 and soon challenged Pereira. Later the LHW champion along with his translator Plinio Cruz was giving an interview after UFC 311 where Prochazka was seen staring at him. The clip went viral soon after.

Ariel Helwani recently invited Alex Pereira and Plinio Cruz to “The Ariel Helwani Show“. When asked about the clip, Pereira stated that it was just a normal thing for him. As per him Prochazka would have reacted in the same manner for any other potential opponent. Pereira responded in a neutralised manner to all the reporter’s igniting statements.

No it was not like this, staredown that we had inside the ring. He was just watching, he was just over there doing his thing, we were doing our thing. If it was anybody else doing an interview, he would be looking at them the same way.” (35:03 to 35:37)

The Brazilian has already defeated Jiri Prochazka on two occasions.

First Fight at UFC 295: Alex Pereira was able to win his first fight against Jiri Prochazka via knockout in the second round of the fight. The match looked even until the first round but in the second round Pereira turned it around with his timing and power.

Second Fight at UFC 303: They both met again at UFC 303 and the result was in the favour of Alex Pereira. He knocked out Prochazka on two occasions. The first knockdown came towards the end of round 1. Just as the second round startes Pereira gave a head kick to end the match.

One thing that caught their attention during their second fight was Prochazka’s black magic allegation on Pereira before the match.

Alex Pereira responds to Jiri Prochazka’s black magic allegations

After UFC 303, Prochazka frequently elevated black magic allegations and said he did some form of “voodoo” against him. In response to his statement Pereira maintained his silence until he continued this allegations on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast.

The LHW champion refuted all these acquisitions in the “The Ariel Helwani Show.” He stated that all the matches he played were fair and all victories were not due to black magic but by his hardwork and dedication.

“All respect to him, but no man, I’m a god-fearing man. I have God in my heart… He’s just saying these things, I’ve never participated in any of those things, I’m a regular person. If he really believed that, take a doll, tie my hands and feet, and then fight me, like that’s going to work?”

At last the Brazilian mentioned that he was ready for the third match between them. He loves to challenge fighters who are in their prime and love ro beat them in their prime. The two division champion indirectly indicated that he would love to fight again after knocking him out twice. Atlast he said, if you are the best, these are just excuses and nothing else.

Pereira will next face Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in what looks like the LHW champion’s toughest challenge. Prochazka on the other hand recently defeated Jamahal Hill, knocking him out in the third round. As for the third fight between Pereira and Prochazka only time will tell weather the triology will happen or not. Stay tuned for more developments from the MMA world.
