Conor McGregor had a reaction to the White House shooting involving two servicemen as they were shot. Posting on X about the incident that had two West Virginia National Guard members near the White House harmed in the shooting, Conor expressed his concern. As per reports, the incident took place a couple of blocks northwest of the White House. Heavy emergency services were called after the incident. However, Conor certainly had a confusion in interpreting the incident.
Social media initially spread the news stating the two servicemen were shot dead in the incident. Post which, Conor reacted about the same, writing
“Terrible news coming from Washington this evening. My prayers to the families of the two servicemen killed. With all my soul and heart I pray.”
Though, officials later confirmed that the two servicemen did get shot but weren’t dead. The condition of them, however, was reported as serious. A 29 year-old Afghan national was caught as the suspect identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The suspect had come to the US back in 2021 legally post US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump also reacted on X about the incident, saying the suspect would “pay” for his action. He also confirmed the critical condition of the two servicemen shot in the incident. During the press briefing by Jeffrey Carroll, Executive Assistant Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, it was stated that the suspect opened fire when the two servicemen were coming around a corner. However, other servicemen were quick to get in action immediately and caught the suspect.
McGregor-Khabib Exchange Reignites After Dagestan Rehabilitation Invitation
McGregor’s statement about the Washington incident came amid his resurfaced feud with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. Not to forget, Khabib took a dig at Conor, asking if his trauma therapy in Mexico helped him or not. Meanwhile, before McGregor too had a jab at Khabib’s involvement with the digital “Papkha” gift project.
Besides, Khabib reminded all with a response about the outcome of his UFC 229 fight of 2018, indicating the history of him and Conor. In fact, Conor had a claim in public about having benefitted from ibogaine treatment in Mexico. He claimed it saved and healed him.
Certainly, Khabib didn’t believe in his claim and pointed towards the rehabilitation efforts ongoing in Dagestan. He added about his centers treating dozens of individuals with their addiction, signaling an invitation to Conor as well.
On X, Khabib wrote,
“My count is 56 former drug addicts at my rehabilitation centers in Dagestan that I treated. Come to Dagestan, @TheNotoriousMMA; they’ll take care of you here. Mexico didn’t help you, as far as I can see.”
Surely, that was a strong and direct personal remark by Khabib towards Conor. Though it was an invitation, it also indicated refuting the claims of Conor having healed. Clearly, it reignited the feud again between them.
Nonetheless, Conor and Khabib fought each other long back. But the tension between them does appear outside the octagon too. Their verbal spat hints at if their equation is ever going to get better or not.
