Dricus Du Plessis had heaped praise on Conor McGregor on multiple occasions. In an eight month old podcast episode he lauded McGregor for his contributions to MMA.
The South African gave his thoughts via the podcast channel named ” The SIAS Du Plessis Show“. The Middleweight champion gave his thoughts regarding McGregor being trolled for multiple reasons.
Du Plessis stated how people got to credit McGregor for creating awareness for the sport even though they dislike him. As per Du Plessis, McGregor has raised stakes for the sport and every fighter needs to be thankful for the same.
Du Plessis stated:
Even if you don’t like him, You can’t ever, Ever discredit what he’s done for this sport because every single fighter needs to thank him, In my Opinion, For the raise in pay, The rise in awareness of this sport.” [H/T MMA Uncensored]
Conor McGregor has indeed brought fame and recognition for the sport
The sport of MMA and UFC is incomplete without Conor McGregor. He is known for the way he carries himself in the ring and seeks the attention of the fans throughout the match. His presence inside or outside the ring is enough for his fans.
He contributed to MMA not only by his personality but also by the record breaking pay-per-view sales. His bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov broke multiple records and turned out to be the best pay-per-view match of all time. McGrgeor’s involvement brought huge revenue for UFC.
Du Plessis will now be featured at UFC 312 against Sean Strickland
UFC 312 match card is all set and Dricus Du Plessis will defend his middleweight title against Sean Strickland. Earlier fans witnessed a few verbal exchanges between them about the match. Giving his opinion Du Plessis respond with this:
“I’m here to win, not to play by my challenger’s rules,”
Fans are excited for this bout as the winner of this event will fight Khamzat Chimaev for the title.
Along with this, there are four more matches in the main card featuring one women’s title as the co-main event of the night. The Women’s Strawweight champion is on the line between Weili Zhang(C) and Tatiana Suarez for the Women Strawweight championship.
UFC 312 has four matches in the preliminary section featuring three Australian fighters. Jack Jenkins, Cody Haddon, Tom Nolan will fight in Featherweight, Bantamweight and Lightweight divisions respectively.
Before the start of the main card there are three early prelims matches featuring Indian MMA fighter Anshul Jubli for the Lightweight division.
