Merab Dvalishvili successfully defended his bantamweight title against Umar Nurmagomedov, putting on a stellar show at UFC 311. The PPV event featured live from the Intuit Dome Arena, in Inglewood, California. The champion came into the fight as an underdog but defied the odds with an outstanding performance.

Dvalishvili won the fight against the Dagestani via unanimous decision. Before the fight Nurmagomedov had warned the champion about deep waters i.e. fighting on the mat. Coming from the Dagestani camp, Nurmagomedov is known for his grappling techniques. However, Dvalishvili countered it with his pace.

The challenger had his moments in the first two rounds. As the fight went on, “The Machine” dictated the speed of the fight. After several attempts to take the challenger down, the cardio of the champion was on display in the last three rounds.

With this big win, Merab Dvalishvili now looks unstoppable. After the fight, “The Machine” was seen talking to Dana White about the difficulties he had to overcome just before the fight.

Merab Dvalishvili dealt with multiple injuries before the fight

In the post fight interview with Joe Rogan, the bantamweight champion talked about suffering lower back injury and a leg injury. The videos of his leg featuring stitches were already doing rounds. As per Dvalishvili, he had an infection in his leg.

“The Machine” further stated how it was important for him to fight on the card as he felt UFC needed him. He mentioned how the company gave him everything that he has today. With a successful defense, it would be interesting to see, who will be his next challenger.

On the same night, Islam Makhachev defeated Renato Moicano via submission to defend his lightweight title. With the win he got closer to his goal of becoming a two division UFC champion. Jiri Prochazka knocked out Jamahal Hill and challenged Alex Pereira for another match. However, he will have to wait as Pereira is set to defend his title at UFC 313 against Magomed Ankalaev.

With a spectacular show, UFC now moves to their next major PPV i.e. UFC 312. During the live telecast of UFC 311, new matches for the UFC 312 and UFC 313 were announced. Stay tuned for more updates.
