Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira are set to main event UFC 313 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 8. Before the fight both the fighters are taking to their social media to hype their fight.
Ankalaev, recently took multiple shots at the UFC light-heavyweight champion via X(Twitter), warning him about the consequences of delaying the fight. The LHW title contender also referenced Pereira’s past when the champion used to work in a tyre shop.
Ankalaev’s post read:
“You just sign your death certificate I’m gonna punish you for ducking me and I’m gonna make you look like a guy work in a tire shop not professional Fighter.”
The Russian fighter posted another tweet mocking the LHW champion for attending UFC events to get attention. He informed Pereira about his hard training for UFC 313 showdown.
His tweet stated:
“@AlexPereiraUFC he go to all UFC fight to get free alcohol and get camera time on the other hand. I’ve been training so hard March 8 alcohol not help you. CHMA”
This is not the first when the challenger took shots against Pereira. The Russian had been targeting the Brazilian for the past several months while calling himself the rightful contender for the LHW title.
Magomed Ankalaev denounced Alex Pereira’s standup
In an old interview with MMA Junkie, Magomed Ankalaev had acknowledged Pereira’s punching power. However, he also went on to criticize his overall standup.
“He definitely has a strong punch, but overall his standup is overrated.”
The fight was announced during the live telecast of UFC 311. After the announcement, Pereira sent an invitation to the challenger throught a tweet. As per the Brazilian, he asked UFC to book the fight in March and is prepared for the Dagestani’s grappling skills.
Ankalaev has a record of 11-1-1, (1 no contest) while Pereira record stands at 12-2-0. Many MMA analysts consider Ankalaev as a tough challenger given his strong grappling skills. The LHW champion is not known for his takedown defense and the challenger would want to explore the weakness.
UFC 313 will also feature Justin Gaethje taking on Dan Hooker in what promises to be a brutal encounter. Stay tuned to get more updates.
