John Cena’s illustrious WWE career is coming to an end. This whole year has seen Cena wrestle his final matches. As promised, he is capping off those 36 dates and bidding adieu to in-ring wrestling once and for all. That time is nearly a month away, and fans are speculating who his final opponent could be.

Thus, he and WWE have found a way to get sorted with a special 16-man ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament. The tournament schedule is set to begin next Monday at Monday Night Raw at the TD Garden in Boston. The competition will then continue just four days later on Friday Night SmackDown at the MVP Arena in Albany.

Cena personally announced the tournament on the Nov 1st edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event broadcast. The field will be diverse, featuring top talent from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, alongside surprise contenders who, Cena noted, “don’t even work here.” The winner of the tournament will step into the ring with Cena for his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.

Cena’s motivation for the tournament is clear: he wants to face someone who will seize a career-defining moment, much like he did at the start of his career. The lineup will include both long-time rivals and a new generation of talent he has yet to face one-on-one. As Triple H stated on social media, this presents a “hell of an opportunity to be a part of history.”

John Cena’s Last 4 Appearances

The aforementioned RAW in Boston, on November 10th, is his fourth-last appearance of his farewell tour. There are not many chances now that he will wrestle on that episode, though, as the ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament is beginning that night. He might address his home state audience and reflect on his retirement tour so far, mentioning how he is in the last leg of it.

His last RAW appearance will be at Madison Square Garden on November 17th. This appearance could very well see him wrestle one last time on the red brand. The tournament for his final opponent might still be on at this time, however, the Leader of Cenation will have to be sent off with a memorable bout too. Just like his last SmackDown appearance where he faced Sami Zayn in the United States Open Challenge.

His penultimate appearance, which will also be his last PLE, would be Survivor Series in San Diego. The reports suggest that the hometown star, Dominik Mysterio, will be facing Cena at this event on November 30th. Then it comes down to Saturday Night’s Main Event at Washington, D.C. on December 13th. The opponent will be known in around November itself to hype up the final match of Cena’s career.
