Early Life and Background

In his younger years Magomedov was into football. But after he got kicked out of the team after an argument he switched to combat sports. In Muay Thai he flourished and became Russian Muay Thai Champion and had an 18-2 record.

In the beginning of his career while training in Thailand he got a serious eye injury. Despite multiple surgeries he lost sight in one eye. He has talked about this and cites former UFC champion Michael Bisping, who also fought with one eye, as a big source of inspiration.
