It might not be the way they used to be as Edge and Christian. However, now, as Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, they have reunited. On tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Copeland and Cage reunited as a tag team against their common enemies.

The episode featured Adam Copeland in a singles match against Stokely Hathaway. The bout, however, was made to exploit a loophole in a restraining order. The match was a calculated setup, designed either to allow Copeland to get his hands on Hathaway or to bait FTR into violating the restraining order. As expected, FTR interfered during the match, leading to a chaotic post-match brawl.

In a dramatic turn, Christian charged to the ring, wielding a spiked board, dubbed “Spike,” to fend off FTR and protect Copeland. The situation escalated when Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian attempted to ambush Cage. However, Copeland and Cage fought side by side, successfully repelling their attackers. The intense moment culminated in a heartfelt embrace between the two veterans.

Later in the show, AEW announced that Copeland and Cage would compete as a tag team at Forbidden Door, facing Wayne and Sabian. This match marks their first time teaming up in 14 years, with their last tag team bout together occurring in 2011 in WWE.

The next logical matchup is Copeland and Cage vs. FTR at All Out

The booking seemed logical and geographical for the duo of Copeland and Cage to wrestle as a tag team. The first step in reuniting the tag team happened at Dynamite and is blowing off in a match at Forbidden Door. However, the end goal was always to get the former WWE tag team champions to square off against FTR in their home state of Ontario.

The seeds were planted for this match at Dynasty back in April 2025 following FTR’s brilliant heel turn. However, Copeland’s injury took this match out of sight for a while. If Adam were healthy, there were even chances of the tag team’s reunion as soon as possible for their FTR match at All In: Texas 2025. Although that was scrapped then, but is possible now.

The match at All Out seems possible not only due their Canadian roots but also their counter-programming with WWE. There are rumors that on September 20, the exact day when All Out is happening at Scotiabank Arena, WWE is scheduling a PLE, possibly Bad Blood. The rival companies will go head-to-head, and AEW will have to schedule big matches, like Copeland and Cage vs. FTR!
