In professional wrestling, the term “GOAT”, short for Greatest of All Time, gets thrown around a lot, and for good reason. With a plethora of popular casts, more than life characters, and special matches, every fan and every wrestler has a different idea of who gets that coveted title. It’s a strongly personal question that mixes up discussion in every corner of the wrestling world.
Recently, several current WWE Superstars showed their take on the GOAT, and let’s just say, not all of them are what you expect. The list, originally shared by @sportbible, offers an entertaining mix of respect, approval, funny side, and maybe even a bit of searching.
Let’s take a look at which legends and a few surprises earned a spot in these Superstars’ hearts.

Patterns, Surprises & Self-Appreciation

Naturally, some names came up more than once, and none are too shocking if you’ve followed WWE over the years. Shawn Michaels, known for his powerful narration and clear ring presence, was picked by both Cody Rhodes as well as Kevin Owens. That’s only a surprise. Michaels is largely considered one of the best pure performers of all time. Likewise, John Cena was picked by Randy Orton, his longtime friend and someone who is another name you’d expect to see in a conversation about wrestling’s best.
But then the list takes a fun turn.
Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio naming each other? That’s either a great inside joke or a nice indication of their on-screen chemistry and fan power singing. Either way, it’s a playful curveball that adds some personality to the lineup.
And of course, The Miz naming himself is about as Miz as it gets. Let’s be direct that it wouldn’t feel right if he picked anyone else. What might be more surprising is that Rhea Ripley reversed him, choosing The Miz as her GOAT as well. That pick might raise some eyebrows, but when you consider Miz’s 15+ year run in WWE, his skill to change himself, and his in-tune TV presence, the respect starts to make more awareness.
Other choices, like Logan Paul taking in Rey Mysterio, seem personal. Mysterio gave Paul one of his biggest moments in the ring, and his famous set-up approach has caused generations of Paul to be involved. Bianca Belair’s choice of Beth Phoenix also appears much as fixed in respect for strong, athletic women who broke barriers before her.
What Makes a GOAT?
That’s the big question, isn’t it? What correctly represents the Greatest of All Time in wrestling?
For some, it’s about personality, that rare skill to command attention, the state they walk through the screen. That’s possibly what drew LA Knight to pick Stone Cold Steve Austin, a man who controlled the Attitude Era with sound bravado and set checks like no other.
For others, it’s about in-ring talent and narrative. That’s the area where Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, and Rey Mysterio shine. Their equal still takes up today, and younger stars continue to study them closely.
Stable and flexible matter, too. The Miz may not always get the respect he earns from fans, but his strength, work ethic, and skill to change have made him a stable presence across eras.
Then there’s affect. Few have passed over into normal success like John Cena, making his take-in by Orton not just about friendship, but a result. Cena helped carry WWE through the outlook Era fall and turned himself into a global icon in the process.
Your Turn: Who’s YOUR GOAT?

Now that you’ve seen who the Superstars take in, it’s time to come in. Do you agree with their choices? Or do you have someone different in mind, that maybe Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Trish Stratus, or even Roman Reigns?
The truth is, there’s no across-the-board answer here. Wrestling is an art form, and greatness is in the eye of the viewer. Whether you value mic skills, quality of match, cultural influence, or sheer passion, your GOAT might tell a story just as powerful as the ones told in the ring.
So, tell us who is your GOAT and why? Let’s keep the conversation going. Drop your opinion in the comments and let’s settle this… or at least state about it in the most well-mannered wrestling fan way possible.
